Head low, dark paws dragging, Foxwing approached what she assumed was a lake. Nothing was going through her tortured mind at that moment, except for a desparate longing for water - she hadn't drunk in days. Eventually, she reached the bank, and instantly threw her head under, relishing the cool, refreshing liquid as it covered her snout. The fae lapped it up ravenously, oblivious to everything going on around her, her mind was still blank. Several minutes later, she emerged from the water, shook dry, and lay with her head down on the soft, lushious grass littering the floor. This was more like it. Fox's black lips twitched at the ends slightly, curving into a small, timid smile, getting wider and wider, until she was grinning like a joker, so glad to be away from her past. This was her chance for a new beginning. Now all she had to do, was overcome her fear of company.

Hawkeye came to the newcomer as he always liked to do. He oblivious of her fear of company, and was just trying to be nice to someone that had just come to these lands. He walked up to her, and saw her grin, and thought that she was already happy here. That was his thought, he did not know if it correct though. He hoped that she would stay here, he loved to see more and more dogs come to the lands. He loved to think that his lands too would have these dogs within them. He spoke to the dog when he was near enough. "Hello." He said it calmly, trying not to suprise her. "I'm Hawkeye. Your new here, no?" He tryed to sound friendly as well, which was quiet simple for him. He smiled at her, then waited.

Surprised by the sudden voice, Foxwing jumped back dangerously, and cowered from the one who had approached her. Shaking violently, she told herself, No, I've gotta be brave, I want to fit in. She pulled her eyes upward to look into the face of the creature. Another dog, black, with funny white markings, and rather handsome! She stared into his eyes for a moment, taking in the fact that he was acting friendly towards her - that was a first. Her lip twitched again, and she decided to answer. "Uh, uh, y-yeah, I'm new here" She gave that same weak smile she'd begun with, and added, "Umm, it's nice to meet you, H-Hawkeye." Her legs were still shaking, but she managed to stand, and greet the dog in a propor fashion, and smiled again, though it was lost in her fear. She resolved to look at the floor, and speak that way, so she wasn't as frightened. "M, my name's Foxwing. Sorry."

Hawkeye closed his eyes for a second and smiled, then when he opened them again he said "Sorry? For what? You did nothing. Anyway, thats besides the point. It's nice to meet you Foxwing. Hmm... That's a very interesting name... Reminds me of mine... Hawkeye, Foxwing. Both animals that we arn't, and both body parts." He smiled again. "How interesting!" He looked at her and thought that she might be frightened, though he was not quiet sure about what, so he said nothing about that.

She smiled at his observation, she had noticed that too, and was glad he had. Gaining confidence slightly, she said, "I'm just, sorry. For being scared, I shouldn't be, I know you're not dangerous." She smiled weakly again, and said, "Names just a coincidence?" A small giggle escaped her maw, something that had not happened in a long time, but she suppressed it, it seemed almost unnatural to her. She lay again, relaxing slightly in his presance, she felt..almost safe with him. "Uh, do you mind if I stay here? It's just..I really need a place to go, either that, or it's hell for me." Any traces of a smile had left her now, her expression was deadly serious, and terribly sorrowful.

Hawkeye noded. "Don't worry" He said seriously as well. "You can stay here. Anyone can. I'm not the leader or such. I just live here. I used to be the leader of the lands bordering here. But now they are part of here too, and I no longer own them. And do not leave if you find it safe here. Safety is the best thin anyone can have." He smiled slightly, hoping that she would feel happy here, and safe as well. He could tell she had been through alot, and didn't think it was right to ask either. If she wanted to talk about. Then she could. He wouldn't ask.

Fox smiled, this time, a genuinely happy smile. She nodded slightly in acknowledgement of his words, and sat up, scratching her left ear. "Thank you" She muttered quietly, "I hope I shall be safe here too." Her eyes turned to the grass again, and she asked, "What happened with your lands? Well, I mean, you don't have to tell me, but, how come they're not yours anymore?" The fae continued to stare at the ground, afraid that she might have upset him. After all, not everyone wants to talk about their past...

Hawkeye smiled. He did not mind talking about his past. He had gotten over it, and learned to live in today and not the past. "My lands... The lands of Firian... It used to florish with strong and happy dogs. All running and playing under the sun. It was a wonderful place. And my father had been the leader there. He did not tell them what to do, but made sure that everyone was okay. Then the 'virus' came. It started out with a few deaths here and there. But no one really payed any attention to it. They just said that it was old age. But the ones that died weren't nearly old enough to die. Some of them were even puppies! Everyone just hoped that it would go away. But it did not. The 'virus' spread like wildfire and started killing many dogs a day. Sometimes ever 10 or so! Everyone was in horror and worry thinking that they were next. And, well, eventually they were. They all died. Every last one. And my sister... I miss her more then anyone. She was so great... Always so strong and ready for anything... Anything exept death that is.... Ah, well, I'm over it now, and I disided to take my lands here so that they can once again have dogs running free through them." He smiled a the closing of his story and waited for her responce.

Fox just sat in amazement at his story - what a terrible thing to happen. She kept her head low, perhaps a sign of respect, and said, "I'm very sorry for your loss, that must have been a blow." Her weak smile returned to her black muzzle, and pulled her eyes up to stare into his eyes solemnly. "Do you know how that virus thing came?" It was much easier for her to focus on others' problems, rather than her own, and she somewhat enjoyed it, especially listening. You could learn a lot just through listening. The fae was inspired by the way he had put his past behind him, if only she could do the same...She only hoped that speaking with him would help her to do so.

"We were not sure" Hawkeye said in reply to her question. "Many of us came up with different ways that it happened. Most of us belived it was from a traveler. I belive that group." He sighed. It did not borther him anymore, but he could not help just thinking back on it all sometime. Thinking about what could have stopped it. What could he have done? Nothing. He always told himself that. It was not his fault. And it never will be. And that was how he got through the lonely days.

She stared at the ground, such pity in her heart it was unbelievable, a tiny diamond tear even found it's way down her rusty cheek at one point. "That's terrible...what an irresponsible thing to do" She looked up again, and blinked away the tears, not wanting to seem weak in front of her new friend, though she probably had already. Fox creid too easily, too sensitive, it had been said. Very quietly, she treid to steer the subject away from the past, and asked, "So, what other sort of dogs live around here?"
(sorry it's so short)

"Hm..." Haweye said. "I'm not quite sure considering that I have only been here a few days now. But I belive every type of dog is living here. I've seen Border Collies. I've seen wolves. You never know around here." Hawkeye smiled, hopeing to make Foxwing feel better, since she did not look all that happy at the moment. Hawkeyes past did that alot. Make others feel unhappy for him and all the dogs of Firan. It was nothing new, but he did not want her to be sad. "I'm beting that you could find a blue dog running around here somewhere! There are so many!" He laughed at himself a little.

Foxwing giggled along with him, rather gladly of course, laughing was a novelty to her. Still smiling, she said to him, "I'll hold you to that y'know!" She was glad that the mood had cheered up a little, after all, she came here for a new start, and would avoid reverting to her old self at all costs. Unbelievably, she was still smiling as she lowered herself to the ground, and lay her head on paws, rather peacefully. "Sorry" She muttered, "I'm just pretty tired, I've been travelling for days." A yawn escaped her maw as she said this, distorting the words slightly, but not so you couldn't hear them.

Hawkeye smiled. "I hope that I was right! What will you do to me if I was wrong?!?!" He said jokingly. He sighed a bit after. "Once again, you don't need to be sorry. You did nothing. And if you were traveling for days, then you should rest. Of course you should rest." He thought for a second, then added "If you want a place to sleep, then just go to the caves. They're not too hard to find, and they're comferable and available to anyone that wants to use them. I'm sure that you will like them." Hawkeye, would have loved to talk to her more, but if she was tired, then of course she should sleep. He thought that he might want to go to the cliff again anyway, and look out over the lands during the on coming night. He often did, but it was never enough. He would stay there for years, and just look out with his thoughts running through his head, but he was mortal and had to eat, drink, and sleep. He yawned himself then, and waited for her reply.

"Thanks" she said rather more happily than before, a subtle smile planted on her lips. She was pretty tired, of course, but still, part of her wanted to stay here. She'd finally found someone to talk to, who understood her, and was wiliing to listen; a friend. She stared at the ground once again, closing her eyes as he soft breeze blew through her smooth fur, almost feeling the sun disappear around them. Her heart revelled in the sensation the moment gave her, and she hope it would never end, though, of course, she knew that it would. Quietly, she said to Hawkeye, "I think I'll stay here a little longer, 'til the sun goes down, if you don't mind?"
