Nightmare sat, alone, looking out at the trees which he had, so long ago, run from... He sighed and lowerd himself more, now laying down as a verse crept into his head and, before he could stop it, came from his mouth:
"Why, brothers and sisters Must I run, Just to get back to where I started from?"
He broke off there, for a feeling of belonging had crept through him as he had said those words, and he understood. Then his thoughts wandered once again and again, he voiced his question, "Who can I turn to when the only ones I ever could love are dead...?" He sighed and rested his head 'pon his forepaws, a silent tear rolling down his cheek.

A fae watched silently, eyes softening when she saw the tear. Stepping away from the shadows and into the light she gracefully walked to him, creamy fur swaying around the slim bodice, gentle and sympathetic blue eyes soft and understanding. "Hello sir . . . may I ask what is wrong?"

Glancing up at the fae, Nightmare sighed again, a sad, lonely sound that could only come from one such as him, a sad, lost soul only searching to finally belong, just to find it and have to face his past... "It is not for a beautiful female such as yourself to know, for I speak truly in saying that were it to grace your ears, you should turn away with disgust and never wish to lay eyes on me again. And that, my dear, would sadden me greatly, greater than the past I dare not reveal." His eves had been fixed on his paws as he spoke, another tear rolling down his cheek, wondering what others would think of him were they to know...

She nodded understandingly, but did not leave. "Brujo . . . I won't leave until you are happy."

Sighing, Nightmare looked down, "Understood..." He had yet to look at the fae that had been speaking to him... He made it a point not to look at anyone... Much less females.

Her cream-tainted maw creased into a slight smile as the femora reclined next to the brute, mis-shapen ear flopping slightly against the wavy-furred forehead. "What is troubling you?"

Sighing, he shook his head, "I must not speak of it..." He was finding more and more difficult to speak to this fae, since she seemed to actually care... Or at least, she had enough curiosity that she could pretend to.

She 'tsk-tsked' understandingly, but then smiled, twinkling blue eyes boring into the top of his head. "It'll never get better if you keep hiding it, letting no one know. The realization will only get worse until it consumes you and become nothing but a distraught shell."
